We Sell & Install The Most Effective & Attractive Chimney Caps & Top-Sealing Dampers On The Market

As a homeowner, you’re always looking for ways to protect your home from damage and keep everything in great condition. But how can you protect your chimney? With a chimney cap or top-sealing damper!

Your chimney flue extends past the crown or chase cover, and without proper protection, anything can enter the opening and make its way down into your chimney – from rainwater, snow, and sleet to leaves, twigs, and animals. That’s why every chimney, whether prefabricated or masonry, should be properly fitted with a chimney cap or top-sealing damper.

What’s The Difference Between A Chimney Cap & A Top-Sealing Damper?

A chimney cap is a metal cover that attaches to the top of the chimney flue to prevent anything from entering. Typically, caps are made of stainless steel, galvanized metal, or copper, and are available in a wide range of designs, sizes, and styles. When properly sized and fitted, chimney caps can effectively protect the chimney flue from moisture and other intruders.

Top-sealing dampers, on the other hand, serve as both caps and dampers. Dampers, which have traditionally been crafted of metal and located down in the throat of the chimney system, work to close off and open up the chimney flue when the fireplace is being used. Unfortunately, because of their metal composition, throat dampers are unable to provide an airtight seal, and they oftentimes rust into place. When this happens, homeowners have an amazing alternative to throat dampers: top-sealing dampers.

Like chimney caps, top-sealing dampers attach to the top of the flue and prevent water and other outside elements from entering the chimney flue. These dampers use a rubberized seal, which works to prevent conditioned air from exiting the home and any outside air and moisture from entering. But when the fireplace is in use, the top-sealing damper can be opened up to allow smoke and byproducts of combustion to exit the chimney system and home. Top-sealing dampers have been known to provide energy savings and to more than make up for the investment.
