Choosing a profession requires a lot of thought and energy. You should consider your likes and dislikes, the working conditions of the different professions, and your talents. For example, if you love the great outdoors you probably shouldn’t look for a desk job where you have to stay indoors all the time. Once you’ve found the job you want to pursue, it’s time to train. In order to be trusted, you need to get the training or the certifications necessary to be confident in your skills.

At Chimney Doctors of Colorado, we believe in offering the best service and products on the market, and that’s why we take the time to take advantage of the educational opportunities that are out there. As a consumer, picking a company to work on your home can be quite the project. We want to give you the information you need to hire a professional chimney sweep.

Different Certifications:

CSIA

There are lots of different certifications out there, and it’s important to know what those certifications mean. For example, the top name in the chimney sweep industry is the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA). This certification requires our professionals to go through a rigorous training and testing schedule. It includes a six day training session, with sessions on such topics as operating the equipment used in inspections and cleanings, as well as new techniques and technologies. It also teaches us how to:

  • safely use equipment and complete inspections
  •  keep the chimney in a good state of repair
  •  get rid of creosote or anything else that causes a buildup in your chimney.

To receive the certification, we have to go through a testing process to ensure that we have been thoroughly trained. And after we’ve earned certification, we go through a continuing education process to make sure that we stay on top of all the latest in new technologies in the industry.

NFI

Another valuable certification we have is from the National Fireplace Institute (NFI).Because installing and maintaining fireplaces and chimneys is so important and because making an error during the installation process can cause dangerous situations, the NFI offers training and a rigorous testing process which involves thorough coverage of the fundamentals of the installation process.

NCSG and More

These are two of the major certifications our company holds, but that isn’t enough for our employees. We’re also members of the National Chimney Sweep Guild and the Rocky Mountain Hearth, Patio, & Barbeque Association. Nothing is more important to us than our customers’ safety and satisfaction, and that’s the reason that it is important to us to stay educated on all of the top practices in the industry. Check out our certifications at the Chimney Doctors of Colorado website, then give us a call and let us take care of your chimney care needs.
